Lawful Presence Verification required for all GA real estate licensees and applicants
According to the Georgia Real Estate Commission, all applicants wishing to apply for a Georgia real
estate license, or to renew their Georgia real estate license must now fill out the "GREC GREAB
Lawful Presence Verification" and have the form notirized and submitted to the Georgia Real Estate
Commission prior to obtaining or renewing their real estate license. This change will take affect
on January 1, 2012 and effect all real estate salespersons, brokers, real
estate schools, school
directors, and appraisers as well. The change is due to Georgia's “Illegal Immigration Reform and
Enforcement Act of 2011.” Which states that all people that are benefiting from using Georgia's resources
must provide proof of their citizenship. Please allow several days in order for the Real Estate Commission
to process this paperwork. They currently have a lot of paperwork that they must sort
through and
this just adds to their collection and work load. They have requested that agents do not submit their
paperwork any more than 30 days in advance because this will keep people from needing to renew on that
month from getting to the front of the paperwork stack. They will notate each account when the paperwork is
recieved and this is required if you are renewing on line or by phone. For further information on this document
